Revelation

It was with trepidation that I ordered a Diamond GX cello bow. Having always needed to try before I buy, to see if the bow works well with the instrument.

My fears were dispelled after just a few minutes. I went straight to those passages that just weren’t sounding as good as they should. The Coda bow delivers. I could sustain double stops for longer and with a slower bow, switch between on and off the string techniques and the sound is smoother and sweeter to my ears..

I have to work hard on my cello to get the very high notes towards the end of the fingerboard to sound acceptable, but this is hugely improved by my GX.

We are still getting to know each other but I already know that I couldn’t get this quality at this price with a pernambuco bow.

This is not my second bow for travelling- this is my first bow - every time..

excellent service

I am very happy to report that the service I received on-line from Hannah at CodaBow.com was completely satisfactory. She understood my situation and solved my problem.
I recommend this website to others needing help for coda bow issues.

Lifechanging

After several years, I've decided the time has come to upgrade bows. I selected the Diamond GX and it has been a massive difference in play and feel. The first thing that came to mind was that it just felt much more responsive. Certain etudes I had worked on that felt sluggish now felt extra punchy and lightweight. To me, my previous bow felt like cutting through cold butter but switching to this one felt like cutting through warm butter (or even margarine).

sadly, the Diamond GX did not imbue me with the ability to magically play Tchaikovsky's Op 35.

Amazing Response

I've had my GX for a while and I've absolutely enjoyed it. Having such a versatile response can make playing any piece more fun and exhilarating! When trialing other bows, one thing that stood out to me was how I got such a beautiful, natural tone with a less wispy and artificial response. As a violist, this bow has helped me through various passages, especially with the weighted frog. I heavily recommend this to violists who may not exactly get the exact response from other bows. This is bow is a gamechanger!

I adore my codabow

I love my bow so much. I got the diamond GX as a replacement for a beginner bow that I have had since I started playing violin, and it has been such an amazing upgrade. It cuts out annoying string noise and produces a beautiful warm sound on my instrument, is super responsive, and visually beautiful as well. I am so pleased with this bow and all that it lets me do.

Diamond GX

I have owned my violin GX for a number of years now, and enjoy playing with it very much. My reasons for choice: I’m not a professional, but I chose for its sound against around 6 others, some of which more expensive, it suits my instruments well. Projects at orchestra and at chamber groups. It far outperforms a pernambuco bow that I also own! Another advantage is that travel with a pernambuco bow, with an ivory frog is problematic due to paper work. Carbon fibre is stable and worry free in different environments and at altitude. HOWEVER, my only observation is that aesthetically it doesn’t quite look the part, I also have a less expensive wood veneered bow from a uk supplier ( chinese) which is my preference to play! And yes I STILL would love to own a good Hill bow, if I could afford it. The sound and craftman ship is in a different league!! One worry I have is a concern about the rehair for the GX when the time comes, as one luthier told me that coda bows are difficult to work on. Generally great bow as far as I can judge!
